The United States and Costa Rica Sign Work Plan to Export Ornamental Plants to the U.S.

San Jose – June 7, 2010

The U.S. Ambassador to Costa Rica, Anne S. Andrew, and the Secretary of the Costa Rican Ministry of Agriculture, Gloria Abraham, signed the work plan outlining the measures to export ornamental plants to the American market. In January 2009 a similar agreement was signed to export ripe tomatoes and fresh sweet chile to the United States. Two months after this last protocol was signed, 14 producers from the zone of Zarcero exported ripe tomatoes to the United States introducing the product to the U.S market. Next month the second season of exportation of these tomatoes will begin.
