Students Showcase Science and Engineering Projects at Intel 

San Jose-February 24, 2010

Ambassador Anne S. Andrew joined aspiring Costa Rican high school students who were competing for the top three spots to travel to San Jose, California May 10-14, 2010 to debut their Science and Engineering projects at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. 

The Fair encompasses more than 1,200 students from over 40 countries and is the world's largest pre-college science fair recognizing and rewarding excellence in science from the world's best young scientists. Ambassador Andrew thanked Intel, teachers, parents and Costa Rica's aspiring students. 

Seven students were selected as finalists including Jorge Piedra and Jose Pablo Corrales from the Science High School in San Carlos for their project on vanilla extraction, Karol Quiros, Raquiel Ramirez and Andrey Zamora from the Technical School in Don Bosco for their project on teaching children with disabilities and Susana Garita and Alexia Quiros from the Science School in San Carlos for their project on accelerating the decomposition process of pineapple stubble.
